Festive Roman Chester - 23rd November 2024

Believe it or not, it is five years since we last visited this lovely Roman city.  With Christmas fast approaching perhaps it is time for a little festive atmosphere in Chester.  Some of you may just want to wander round the town, do some shopping, take in the sights and sounds and the history of this busy city dating back to Roman times. 

The Christmas Market is situated outside Chester’s historic Town Hall and library and the beautiful Cathedral nearby is over 700 years old.  In this area you will find the pretty wooden chalets selling all sorts of seasonal goods and food and drink too.  “The Rows” dating back to the 14^th century still exist today as a vibrant shopping area.  They are double-level walkways with a line of balconies housing shops at street and first-floor levels. Of course there are plenty of opportunities for Christmas shopping in the modern malls too. Don’t forget the riverside too.  

If you feel like a stroll, Chester’s old Roman walls, are two miles approx and easily accessible. Don’t miss the clock on The Eastgate bridge, one of the former entrances to the fortified town commemorating Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee (1897) 

Come along and get in the festive mood.

The coach will leave from Codsall Methodist Church, Histons Hill at 9.00am and Albrighton High Street opposite One Stop at 9.15am returning by about 6.00pm. The cost of this trip is £30
